THE FUND Board of Directors
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
The Fund for the Diaconate to propose major change in status
The Fund for the Diaconate to propose major change in status
The Board of the Fund for the Diaconate (the Fund) will be holding a special election of the members (all deacons in The Episcopal Church not further ordained) in early 2025 to vote on changing the status of the Fund.
The proposal is to make the Fund a non-membership corporation, and eliminate the need for annual elections to elect directors and approve bylaws changes. There are a few reasons that prompt this move. Read the proposed bylaws changes. Read the full explanation and rationale. Read the FAQ's. |
About The Fund for the Diaconate and our service to deacons.
The Board of the Fund is made up of deacons and archdeacons in The Episcopal Church, and in good standing.
Meetings are held virtually and in-person:
Most in-person Board meetings are held in New York City, where the Fund is incorporated, typically at The Episcopal Church offices at 815 Second Avenue, or at Church Pension Group offices on East 34th Street. We have begun exploring alternate locations for the Fall meetings. Non-Board members are invited to attend all meetings, although you need to let the president know in advance, so you can be listed as an attendee with building security or Zoom access. Discussions of grants to individuals will be held in closed sessions. The Board has a variety of committees and task forces, which include deacons who are not board members. Appointments are made at the January board meeting. Persons interested in serving on a committee should review the description of each committee here, and then send a note of interest to our president Deacon Keith McCoy. Please include any information that would explain why you would like to be a contributor to the committee’s work. Board members serve 3-year terms, beginning in January following the year they're elected. The bylaws allow for the President and Treasurer to be non-directors but with full voting rights. |
